An indispensable destination when visiting Thu Dau Mot city is Phú Cường Cathedral. The image of an old church with bell sound has been replaced by a new Gothic church with a modern appearance. The Cathedral is located at Thu Dau Mot six-way intersection , which makes the city center get an entirely new appearance.
Before Phú Cường Cathedral was built, Thu Dau Mot Parish church (founded in 1865 with the first priest, Father Sorel Constant – Joseph) had once stood there. Then it turned into Phú Cường church and now become the Cathedral (in 1965, the Bishop established a new Cathedral of Phú Cường Diocese).
The church was completely rebuilt from the old one and inaugurated in April 2014. The image of an old church with bell sound has been replaced by a new Gothic church with a modern appearance. Besides, Phú Cường Cathedral distinguishes itself by a large and high bell tower.
Owning a quite large campus with elegant colors, wonderful and fancy architecture, Phú Cường Cathedral is not only a place of worship for hundreds of catholic but also a famous tourist attraction. With elegant gray-blue and white tones, the church has become the background for many young people to take photos.
A lot of trees and bonsais around the church create a green-feeling atmosphere and shadows for church attendants. The church has a big capacity for hundreds of seats. In addition to the solemn space, there is also a range of houses with different functions for serving religious activities. For example: community study area, library, diocesan office, break room.
